New Radio and TV aggression against Cuba
The permanent radio and television aggression of the United States against Cuba has been increasing. In mid-December executives Radio and TV Marti rented spaces in the WPMF-38 television station, owned by TVC Broadcasting that broadcasts programming from Azteca America, and WAQI 710 AM Radio Mambi, the Univision Network.
Each year the U.S. government spends millions of dollars to broadcast subversive programs on Radio and TV Marti, aimed at destabilizing the Cuban Revolution. Using the pipe
also allow the U.S. government station access to satellite transmissions of Direct TV, "which are captured by Illegal satellite dishes on the island ", as reported by El Nuevo Herald. With this aim to achieve new ways in which their meddlesome and subversive messages, designed to destabilize the Cuban Revolution, be seen and heard in our country.
Nobody should be fooled. No by taste the recommendations contained in chapter one of Bush's plan to annex include distribution of computers, shortwave radios, satellite dishes, decoders, fax and photocopying their mercenaries living in Cuba. Most of these media that are counted thousands have been smuggled by the USIS citing the diplomatic bag.
To do this, and to continue funding internal subversion in our country, the U.S. government has decided to allocate an additional $ 80 million over the next two years and not less than 20 million annually thereafter, to achieve the dream of overthrowing the Revolution.
In that effort has been spent and squandered in ill-handling-$ 73.5 million between 1996 and 2005, according to recent research by the Government Accountability Office, an agency of the United States Congress. Paradoxically
new ways to make the transmissions arrive at a time when TV Marti station, based in Miami, faces a round of criticism for investing $ 10 million annually "to produce programs that rarely sees the audience for whom they are addressed in this Caribbean island," as referred to a dispatch from The Associated Press.
Ignoring the many complaints made by Cuba in international forums, the U.S. government is looking for any route you can make radio-television audience for broadcast subversive programs from its territory to an underdeveloped country and locked.
With this act violating important provisions of the Constitution, Convention and Radio Regulations of International Telecommunication Union (ITU). These stipulate that the purpose of its member states is to "facilitate peaceful relations, international cooperation among peoples and economic and social development by means of efficient telecommunications. "Given the repeated
Cuban opposition to its territory is covered with signs of Broadcasting Sox, frequency modulation or channel Television, as this limits the development of national services, the Radiocommunication Bureau and the Radio Regulations Board have asked the U.S. administration to stop them. In reply, deaf ears.
Raising the rate is nothing new . The radial permanent aggression by the U.S. against Cuba began in the late 60's and has gone right today: From U.S. soil have come to issue in a week over 2 300 hours for various services and frequency bands, for it has been used from illegal channels, protected by the authorities, to commercial and govern-ment's own of this northern nation. Aggression adopted
official in 1985 when it aired a broadcast of that government Sox waves. Located in the territory of that country with antennas directed at Cuba, transmits programs whose content is destabilizing, interventionist and subversive.
In 1990 the government of that nation, a member of the ITU commissioned a television transmitter on board a captive balloon to 3 000 m high in one of the keys to the south of Florida, to cover part of Cuban national territory with the same type of programming. This caused further interference to television services in Cuba, whose stations are properly enrolled in the Master Frequency Register.
A new form of television broadcasting the same occurs in the month of May 2004, and then periodically from August 2005, used a military aircraft of the type EC-130, belonging to the Co-command of a Unit Only Psychological Warfare of the Armed Forces of that country. Insolently at both stations were named National Hero José Martí.
Do as I say ...
While such things happen, into the United States the situation is quite different. This is evidenced by recent reports. Javed Iqbal and Saleh
Elahwal, two U.S. citizens, were arrested by the FBI, the first in August and the second on November 20, 2006, and shall be subject to prosecution where they could be sentenced to 110 years in prison. What crime did? Both had installed satellite dishes that allowed them to themselves and others, to capture the broadcasts of Al Manar, the Hezbollah television channel. The United States believes that television is "a terrorist organization." Therefore, U.S. courts consider to do this television channel or contribute to its spread are facts that constitute a form of complicity with a terrorist organization. The trial will take place in Manhattan and will allow the public to know whether America is ready to carry to its logical absurd logic that has taken on the issue. (Posted in Rebellion, November 30, 2006).
El Nuevo Herald announced the case of ten postal workers who were arrested in Miami for pirating satellite signal distribution company of television channels, so now face 30 years in prison.
signal piracy Direct TV system, he said, began three years ago when Edward John De Salle, an employee at an office of the United States Postal Service in southwest Miami-Dade began to charge co-workers about $ 30 for access to television service I had at home. De La Salle hired a service that allowed full access to all channels of Direct TV and then asked the company to send him several boxes of decoders for allegedly installing them on your property. However, gave them to his co-workers who put them in their homes.
The men are accused of "criminal association" and "conspiracy to form a criminal association." The report said authorities were in possession of one of the defendants the software necessary to alter and counterfeit cards to access satellite services decoders. Spokesmen for Direct TV, he says, did not return calls about the case.
Serious crimes, complicity with terrorist organizations ... Only severe penalties if similar events are run on American soil and undermine government policy.
If you are directed against the Cuban nation is another matter. On behalf of his much hyped "war for democracy", and trampling on international standards, this world does not skimp on power use all its technological and military against a developing country that does nothing to defend their principles and their sovereignty.
The authorities of our country, with the support of the vast majority of people drink and take the necessary measures to diversionary plans of the Bush administration will not succeed.
Again these purposes will crash against the popular will face each aggression with maturity and determination.
aircraft, airships, clandestine satellite systems, radio stations, not bend our conscience. Those provided to multiply the message aggressive foul against the Cuban Revolution will fail in their attempts.

Several publishers convened by the XVI International Book Fair Cuba 2007 agreed yesterday to claim the cultural value of work that in these times suffers corrosion of neoliberal policies and the dictatorship of the market.
Argentine, Mexican Americans and representatives of small publishing houses participated in a forum in which deplored gaps in the distribution and promotion of literature in political, social and artistic non-commercial patterns that favor the so-called best sellers and easy entertainment. This situation contrasts with that observed in the Cuban fair, where editing, encourage reading and to facilitate the discovery of new horizons are links in a beautiful chain.
Yesterday there was also an important La Cabaña space dedicated to scientific thought by the panel conducting science, technology and environment, coordinated by Dr. Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart.
Writers, publishers and booksellers Argentines, and the general public enthusiastically welcomed the presentation of works that highlight intimate historical ties and cultural exchanges between Cuba and the southern country: Argentina in José Martí, the historian Raul Rodriguez O, and when the Apostle traveled to Argentina, writer Raul Valdes Vivo.

The Guardian reveals extraterritorial embargo against Cuba
LONDON, February 5 .- Deputies British Government claimed their strong rejection of the extraterritorial application of U.S. blockade on Cuba, which also is exercised in Britain, said today the popular local newspaper The Guardian. Labour MP Colin
Burgos sued the Foreign Secretary, Margaret Beckett, a strong rejection of political interference by the U.S. Department of State within the United Kingdom, said PL.
The Guardian published on Monday the statements of Linda Bain, vice president of Communications for the American chain Hilton, who sought to justify the expulsion of Cuban officials from a hotel of that company in Oslo, Norway (who were invited to the tourism fair city), and confirmed that the Hilton enforces laws against the island anywhere in the world. This sparked
a wave of protests and trade union solidarity groups from Norway, against the application of extraterritorial laws and discriminatory in its territory against third countries. The source quoted
Anne Grete Skaardal, leader of the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employment, which promotes political action against the White House.
The Guardian revealed last month that an independent journalist Tom Fawthrope, who has written for this newspaper and The Economist, was unable to collect for an article on public health in Cuba, published in the Sydney Morning Herald. In making the claim for payment, Citibank Global explained that he withheld his paycheck under pressure from the U.S. Treasury Department Together.
Something similar happened to the U.S. journalist Ann Louise Bardach, author of "Cuba Confidential, who was not paid for their consulting work for a television documentary on the 638 attempts to assassinate Fidel Castro.
The Guardian reported that the Cuba Solidarity Campaign, based in north London, needed to buy a Dell in Texas, but was denied once known for its work, which illustrates the extent of the blockage.
By knowing these facts, the Labour MP Ian Gibson described the move as an absurdity, and recalled the vote in the UN issued by 183 nations in favor of the need to eliminate the U.S. blockade of Cuba.

Becoming masters of our economies
It is hypocritical to hear the speech of the World Bank (WB) on inequality and poverty. How long will the international community will accept delivery of policy, pro-poor when the WB did disappear from their annual reports in the eighties the data on inequality?
fact, between this and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) dismantled what little redistributive policies that applied then, "and now they say we must do something, a little, not too much," quipped political scientist Belgian Eric Toussaint, during the first day of discussions of the Ninth Meeting on Globalization and Development Problems.

However, it has been mostly a tool of domination to implement pro-powerful models. Meanwhile, the state's role in the nations victims of this policy is to resume the management of its economy for growth.
not enough to cosmetic solutions such as offering "one hundred dollars to the family to send children to school." Real change would consist in access to basic services: education, health, land rights, means of production and the recovery of stolen transnational companies.
The truth is that both the policies of the WB and the IMF have failed in their purpose. It is enough to make the statistics of the world's poor. NEW CRISIS

Venezuela: the key to change
The deepening of the Venezuelan revolutionary process led by President Hugo Chavez, is now the Enabling Act a key year for the construction of a new political, economic and social development in the country.
With the passage of this legislation, which was held in a special session of Parliament with the people in the capital's Plaza Bolivar, give the president power to legislate on matters of national interest.
In his complaint, Chavez initially sought authority to enact decrees with courage and force of law in 10 strategic areas, among which stand out economic, financial, social, culture, security and defense. This project
Members added one more in the debates, as the energy sector, to the President to legislate in this area.
Thus, when adding the oil sector, the government will have the power to bring any legislation on hydrocarbons and their derivatives, joint ventures, gas and electrical system.
Furthermore, these spe-cial powers are justified, according to the National Assembly on the need to refound the nation through the construction of socialism, with more in-inclusion and social justice. With
enactment of this legislation "considered one of the key elements in the new state mandate, it gives the government greater strength, while the country is placed in a position to have more effective laws.
In that sense, parliamentary sources consulted by Prensa Latina reported that the Enabling Act will strengthen the institutions of the Republic, to create the bases with a view to building a socialist-oriented model.
After swearing the office for the term 2007-2013, Chavez highlighted the entry into a new stage, which requires legislation able to support efforts to deepen the revolutionary process including nationalizations in strategic sectors.
This makes sense if one takes into account the existence of laws that show certain gap with the progress that aims toward a new socialist project in the country, which requires a mechanism able to change that picture.
to the legislature, the country calls for changes that can not wait, and hence sustain the approval of the special powers requested by the head of state.
turn, with the approval of the Enabling Act is to avoid all the procedures that each of the laws would have to comply within the Parliament and that deserve to be treated with urgency, in line with changes operating in the South American nation.
Given this step, now the Special Committee headed by Vice President Jorge Rodriguez held within a period of nearly three months, draft decrees.
conclude this phase, a phase provides up to 11 months of public consultation before its final passage by the Executive.
This process is carried out in parallel with the reform of the Constitution in order that emerged from the enabling legislation to respond to the principles of the Constitution.
This was extended to 18 months the period of validity of the legislation, while it is estimated that in the context of this law is drawn between 40 and 60 legal texts, in order to promote the construction of the socialist project in Go-nezuela. (PL)
