Once again the U.S. government restricts its Athletes travel to Cuba

The U.S. government denied permission for American cyclists who participate in the XXXII Return to Cuba, Granma was learned in conversation with José Peláez , chairman of the Cuban Cycling Federation.
The U.S. team under 23 years was a guest of the cycling classic organization of the Greater Antilles, also said the president of the Pan American Cycling Confederation.
In the afternoon yesterday, the Cuban federation received a communication from the authorities that cycle routes in the U.S. reads: "Dear friend (referring to José Peláez), unfortunately our team can not travel to Cuba. I just talked to Washington and say they need six weeks to secure permission to travel to Cuba. For some unknown reason the coach in charge of our team failed to warn us of this problem until last Wednesday. "
The text, signed by Shawn Farrell, Technical Director of the Cycling Federation United States appreciates the invitation "and everything you did to help our team, but we must plan for the 2008 season," concludes the note.
The Return to Cuba XXXII run from 13 to 25 February, and U.S. riders wanted to return the traditional rotation, won in 2003 by the American Todd Herriot, who was the sixth foreigner to win these fights and the first of its country to do so.
